You have a voice in this new Government-make it heard!!

As elections are one of the only times governments and oppositions take notice of public issues, do you think the potential of Natural Sequence Farming should become an issue.

Over the last years billions of dollars have gone into so called 'fixes' for our problems and now more billions are being poured down possibly another deep hole.

Do you think NSF should be given adequate funds to either prove or disprove it's theories?

Let us know your thoughts here.

The new Labour Government gives all the Australian people the right to be heard on issues which are of greatest concern to them.

It is reported that Gary Nairn, the ex Minister for State in the Howard Govt, who lost his seat to Labour in Eden Monaro, reportedly said in his parting speech this week, that NSF was one of the most exciting things he had seen during his political career for the future of our country.

If you believe NSF has something to offer our nation , our farmers, our kids and our grandkids....do something for your country!!! Phone, email , call in and lobby your recently elected local member and take 4-5 friends with you and get a commitment from them to support NSF...whether they be labour, liberal or green.

And today, after the new cabinet has been sworn in, lobby PM Rudd and the new Water and Environment and Agriculture Ministers....blitz their faxes and melt down their Inboxes....and be a part of the solution to Climate change and global warming and water scarcity and the regeneration and renewal of our landscape.

PLEASE!!!!!!! The time may NEVER come again!

A Draft Letter on NS Components in our landscape

Post by duane » Tue Dec 04, 2007 12:19 pm

The Australian landscape evolved and developed on a differing set of evolutionary principles from the cold Northern Hemisphere that our forebears came from. Their system was orderly and regulated...there was a fall, followed by a freeze, then a thaw which was governed by the hours of sunlight. Water and fertility movement was governed to be timed into the spring growing season.

Australia was totally different....it was totally unregulated and suffered extremes from drought to floods and yet it developed one of the most biodiverse continents with megafauna, rainforests etc on the oldest, driest, flattest continent on Earth.

How was it able to do this in such a harsh environment?? The answer can be found in the unique landscape components that evolved in Austarlia to allow all this to happen.

Australia is made up of a series of alluvial floodplain systems. In the past these floodplains were connected directly to the watercourses that flowed thru them. This allowed for the groundwater in these floodplains to remain for years in what was essentially grass covered dams (floodplains) allowing large biodiverse communities to grow and evolve. This was the natural system that had evolved withholding water in the landscape, keeping the landscape cool and moist.

Today we have drained that landscape; our rivers and streams have become incised and water flows straight out to sea or into dams. Our groundwaters which are connected to our river waters are being pumped beyond sustainable capacity and the lack of fresh water in our floodplains is causing outbreaks in salinity all over the country.

The natural sequences of the Australian landscape components tell us that there IS a way to live more sustainably....come and witness it for yourselves....your eyes will be truly opened.

Please use this letter: cut and paste this letter and send it to the pollies above or make up you own.

I have sent letters to all of the above politicans. Here is the letter sent to Penny Wong:..........

Hello Minister Wong

Congratulations on your election win and your elevation to Minister for Climate Change and Water. Labour is off to a great start...ratifying Kyoto.

The world will be watching Australia now at Bali and here is a wonderful opportunity for you to show how Australia can LEAD the world in overcoming the effects of climate change and high Carbon emissions.

Before you head to Bali for the Climate Change Conference you should acquaint yourself with Peter Andrews take on how we can lead the world in overcoming the effects of CO2 in a rapid way and how we can sustain our water needs for the sustainable future.

In late 1996 Peter Andrews recieved the accolade of "the BEST land and water manager in the WORLD" at the 2nd International Conference of Ecological Enginners held in Beijing, China. Of 110 submissions Peter Andrews was one of only two to recieve high commendations.

Much like we are seeing world wide with climate change....this country has witnessed it all before and found the solution.

And our dried landscape is warming up.

The natural sequences of the Australian landscape components tell us that there IS a way to live more sustainably....come and witness it for yourself....your eyes will be truly opened.

We will be in touch.

Wishing you all the very best in your new and incredibly important role and best wishes for Bali

Kind Regards

Duane
