2020 Summit- Full list-NO prizes for coming second

As elections are one of the only times governments and oppositions take notice of public issues, do you think the potential of Natural Sequence Farming should become an issue.

Over the last years billions of dollars have gone into so called 'fixes' for our problems and now more billions are being poured down possibly another deep hole.

Do you think NSF should be given adequate funds to either prove or disprove it's theories?

Let us know your thoughts here.

2020 Summit- Full list-NO prizes for coming second

Post by duane » Wed Apr 02, 2008 9:28 am

Surprise, surprise ....surprise. No invite to Peter to attend PM Rudd's big vision 2020 Summit. Just more of the same ....line to line of academics, professors, ass.professors and Dr's.....the sum total of which I would suggest would know as much about the functioning of this landscape as would fit on the back of a stamp.

When are we ever going to pull our collective heads out of the sand and have effective dialogue of governments with Peter??

This new mob are giving ALL the signs as the last lot...complete disinterest

HERE is the full list of 1000 participants in Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's 2020 summit.

I decided to write to Senator Penny Wong and Mike Kelly MP, and let them know about NSF benefits and my disappointment to find Peter Andrews and his many years of experience, had missed out on the Summit list. I also thought while I was at it, I would inform them that communitys are forming their own Chapters but governments could be funding NSF Training programmes. Peter's graduates could then roll out across the country helping communities, schools & councils to implement NSF.

It's only been 2 days so, I'll get back to you when I get a reply ..
Many hands make light work.
Unfortunately, too many hands stirring anti clockwise, has spoiled mother natures recipe.
Back to basics.

Well done Angela....keep us posted.

Meanwhile this arrived in my Inbox today from GetUp.

"Dear Duane,

Only 1000 people will be deliberating Australia's future at next week's 2020 Summit - but that's not to say your voice won't be heard. Incredibly, 118 of the chosen delegates are GetUp members, including our Executive Director Brett Solomon, so we're starting a conversation to make sure that your voice is added to theirs before they begin their dialogue about Australia's future.

Have your say on what you want our country's future to look like on our 2020 forums - and we will deliver your ideas direct to the decision makers heading to Canberra:

The forums have been started by GetUp members attending the Summit, and they're keen to make sure your ideas are heard. Add your comments and your new big ideas to our online forums - to make sure the Summit recommendations reflect the issues that are important to you.

The Summit is a golden opportunity to let the Australian Government - and a whole range of people representing the Australian community - know where we'd like our country to go. We'll deliver the top ideas from each forum to the Summit delegates, so add your idea now and vote for the ones you care most about:

It's rare to have such a concrete opportunity to look beyond the immediate political term in Australia - but it's forums like these where nation-building ideas are born. This is your chance to let those on the inside of 2020 know what you think.

Thanks for making it happen,
The GetUp team"

Thanks Duane.
As a member of GetUp, I too received an email. I have left a very brief message under the Water Conservation section. I hope many others will take the time to get the NSF message out there to the wider community and the 2020 Summit.

Those who have formed Chapters, those who have seen the benefits through changes on their own properties....you have a platform...please use it to share you personal experiences. :D

Those who don't know of GetUp, they are an online community. Over 280,000 registered members. They raise various issues relating to government policy or lack of in a variety of areas. We all live busy lives and it's difficult to keep abreast of all issues being discussed in political circles. By going to the GetUp site you will see various issues and opinions of other members. You have the opportunity to throw in your two bobs worth and should a petition be drawn up on any issue, you can sign online if you choose to. There are no fees. Donations are welcome/accepted for the running cost of the site/staff.
Industry's have their advocates....and the ordinary citizen now has GetUp! :D
Many hands make light work.
Unfortunately, too many hands stirring anti clockwise, has spoiled mother natures recipe.
Back to basics.

We finally heard back from Anna Rose, Campaign Manager for GetUp's Climate Team.

After sending a copy of Peter's book BFTB and the NSA's dvd on NSF, many phone calls later a response finally came back.

"Hi Duane

Thanks for this sample email to our members. I appreciate the effort you put in. I have discussed it with members of the team and decided that it does not fit into GetUp's campaign model or the type of issues we take up - asking for Kevin Rudd to meet with Peter is not one of our campaign goals as part of our climate campaign.

As you are aware, we are already campaigning on climate change as our major campaign, including asking for 50% by 2020 reduction in greenhouse pollution over 1990 levels, no new coal, $5 billion to public transport.

Again, thank you for the time you spent educating us about NSF.

Good luck spreading the word in other ways.

Warm regards,

Anna"

I was asked via another nsf supporter to write a 'dummy campaign' email to see if NSF might get some support from GetUp.

Here is the draft letter I sent to Anna Rose at her beheest:

GetUp!
Action for Australia

Australia’s answers to climate change

The Australian landscape holds most of the answers to Climate Change. How would you feel if you knew that Australia’s natural landscape had all the answers to climate change?

How would you feel if you knew that in the Australian landscape there was a model of how the Murray Darling could be saved and returned to full functionality?

How would you feel if you knew that Australia’s unique landscape could sequester all of Australia’s annual CO2 emissions using only plants?

And how would you feel if you knew that Australia’s water resources could be secured for all future generations?

The geological evidence of Australia’s past shows that the country has over time changed from desert to rainforest and it has recovered from vast climate changes and from every climate extreme.

There is no doubt that the Earth is undergoing climate change. But increasing CO2 is only a manifestation of the real cause of climate change. The real cause is the reduction globally of the Earth’s green surface area and the resultant loss of the cooling effect plants have on the world’s climate.

Everywhere in the world where vegetation has been systematically removed and the landscape drained, desertification has followed. You only need to look at the Middle East and North Africa….once the Garden of Eden and the Fertile Crescent.

This Australian landscape has coped with climate change many times before and recovered. How did it do this? It evolved an ingenious system of water and fertility capture, which keep the landscape fully hydrated and fertile.
Click on http://www.naturalsequenceassociation.org.au/ and

This is the KEY to Australia’s future on climate change. Peter Andrews, the founder of Natural Sequence Farming, has developed working models, which show how these unique features of our landscape operate. Yet Governments have ignored his plea’s for thirty years.

Now that the death of the Murray Darling IS imminent, it is high time the Government looked at Peter Andrews’ natural landscape solutions. IT DOES PROVIDE POSITIVE SOLUTIONS TO OUR MOST PRESSING ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS.

Sign the petition to PM Rudd to take a serious look at Peter Andrews’ solutions:
"Dear Mr Rudd
All Australians have the right to expect that their environment will support them and future generations.
The world is currently beset by the problems of climate change and global warming. Peter Andrews has been advocating for thirty years that the solutions to these problems lie in our unique environment. As Australian Prime Minister you should have the courage to look at the solutions Peter Andrews says that are in this landscape which can save the Murray Darling and reverse the effects of global warming.
We demand that you act immediately to investigate the solutions to our water and climate issues by meeting with Peter Andrews and investigating our landscapes natural sequence components as a framework for Policy to protect Australia’s future generations."

......end of draft.

It was very disappointing for Getup not to at least give an undertaking to look further into the importance of Peter's work and for their team to seek greater clarity and understanding into NSF, rather than just dismissing my letter.

Anyone, so inclined may wish to contact GetUp at annarose@getup.org.au to put their view. I know a lot of people who view this website will be disappointed with the response from the GetUp organisation.

How sad it is as we watch our great country slip away....

Post by webmaster » Tue Aug 19, 2008 12:20 pm

I just had to comment on the insanity and ignorance shown by these people who are in a sacred position of trust.

Surely their role is to help steer this country onto a road as productive as possible yet, time after time we experience so many clueless people in positions of strength with the ability to actually make changes, show their ignorance and or self interest.

I for one am tired of being pushed around by these politician buffoons who have been elected to look after and nurture our suburbs and rural areas, but who actually believe they are there for their own careers and self improvement.

Maybe we are beyond help as it seems the big corporations control them and they are not going to give up their hold unless there is a full on fight.

I, as single soul with no ability to coerce or lobby in a serious way, can see no change in the immediate future and feel that it will only happen at a time when the masses get so fed up that the media decide they better act on their behalf and allow them to elect someone who really gives a damn about all of us and what we care about.

I personally don't care if they are a lawyers, academics, fish'n'chip owners, farmers or bartenders. If they love this country enough to go against the odds like David did with Goliath and they are prepared to face up to the wall of ignorance to make the 'bite the bullet' changes that need to be made... they have my vote!!

They can't do worse than what is happening now. What is needed is common sense. not corporate cents.

Well thats' how I feel!

Imagine how someone like Peter feels when he KNOWS what can be done to fix many of our sustainability and environmental problems and they simply ignore him and the facts. How many others who have new answers about many of our other problems are beiong ignored?

Many say the world is on the brink of a financial disaster that we have never seen before and yet we treat our greatest assets such as our land and water like a monoply game.

It's time a good percentage of our 20 million population stand up for themselves and demand to be treated with respect. They nearly did it 3 or 4 years back but the media and both parties made sure that came to a quick end. So much for our brand of democracy.

In a secular and spiritual way... May God Bless Australia and all who sail in her.
